(G)-STEM is a website that addresses the gender gap in STEM, specifically in engineering and computer science. (G)-STEM explores why there still is a gender gap today and targets what is preventing women from joining the field, providing resources that empower women to join STEM.
What does S.T.E.M stand for? Science, technology, engineering, and math - men? The STEM field is male-dominated, and we want to bring emphasis to the gender gap in STEM.
Our name (G)-STEM stands for "girls can STEM." The "G" has parenthesis and stands alone because girls are involved in the STEM field, but are treated as hidden figures due to how male-dominated the field is. The hyphen in the name represents the attachment of girls to STEM and how they are apart of the field. We chose this name because we wanted to show that STEM is not just for men and that girls can be apart of this field.
