WHY WOMEN SHOULD JOIN STEM

Women should join STEM because it is so interdisciplinary! There is so much more to computer science and engineering than what is talked about in school. There are creative sides, and you can find such great communities! Kode With Klossy changed my entire perspective on computer science. The camp allowed me to find my passion in coding and inspired me to create this website with my co-founder Sophia.

-Jasmine Wongphatarakul, Co-Founder of (G)-STEM

Everyone should at least get a glimpse into what there is in the STEM field. In all honestly, I too believed computer science was just sitting in front of a computer all day. After joining a coding summer camp and working with my collaborator, Jasmine, I realized the variety of opportunities computer science gives you. I found my passion in UX/UI design and using the coding skills now to influence other girls! Engineering and computer science is not what it seems at school, but a great community and interests to get into!

-Sophia Paz, Co-Founder of (G)-STEM

Women make up half of the global population and are some of the biggest users of technology. When women become involved in STEM, they create products that meet our specific needs and preferences which men may overlook because they don't affect them. Women should join STEM to create the world that they want to live in.

-Amanda Wachuku, Kode With Klossy Scholar
and Google Code Next Engineer

We need women in STEM for a better future! So much of the technology we use today, from facial recognition devices to hiring algorithms to the streets we walk on, is designed by white cis men and discriminates against minorities. It's important for us female and genderqueer individuals to uplift each other to create a more sustainable and ethical world.

-Isabel Liu, Kode With Klossy Scholar

Women should join STEM because it is really fun. I was never interested in computer science until I joined a coding summer camp that really changed my perspective. I enjoyed my time there, and it really opened my eyes to a world I never knew would be interesting. It opens up a lot of opportunities for you and is really important. Finally, STEM is filled with inspiration and inspirational people.

-Lily Foula, Kode With Klossy Scholar

Women should get involved in STEM fields for various reasons. STEM brings many opportunities such as research and whole wide range of knowledge. There are many programs and summer camps that are offered to high school students such as Girls Who Code and Kode with Klossy. Both programs also dive deep into women in tech spotlights which are so inspiring! I highly recommend learning about the world of STEM through as many resources and creating your own passion projects to inspire others around your society!

-Rhea Yadav, Co-Founder of Impact Coders Coding
Program and Kode With Klossy Scholar

I strongly believe that women should join STEM to engage in a new career field and explore topics that are interesting to them. By collaborating with peers in summer internships and programs, students can gain a new sense of STEM-oriented careers for their future. In addition, women can make a huge difference within communities that can lead to an impact in the growing field of technology. Furthermore, women can also learn new concepts and experiment with making a difference!

-Kaajal Yadav, Co-Founder of Impact Coders Coding
Program and Kode with Klossy Scholar

Many disciplines in STEM aim to solve problems that range from curing cancer to launching a rocket. Women should go into STEM for this reason - there's a wide variety of interesting opportunities, and being a part of these opportunities can help better the human condition. Studying STEM allows anyone, including women, to change the world while still following their passions.
